Because of the remoteness of the school, travel to the school by any other means than road can be difficult. For cadets of continous summer courses you can travel to Braintree by rail and hire a taxi to Wethersfield, cost will be approx £12. You can also catch bus from Braintree to Wethersfield. 614 VGS Directions
Below are directions for travel to 614VGS from the M11.
1. From M11 heading north. Exit at junction 8 onto roundabout.
2. On to A120 towards Braintree/Dunmow. (Right off M11)
3. Drive straight for approx 7 miles - drive over first roundabout which only has one exit to TESCO.
4. After short distance you will hit the second roundabout turn left, onto B184.
5. After 200m approx you will have to take another left turn to stay on the B184 heading towards Saffron Waldon (signposted)
6. Left at small roundabout to stay on B184
7. After 150m approx take first right onto B1057 towards Finchingfield
8. Follow signs through Great Bardfeld to Finchingfield (9-10 miles approx).
9. At Finchingfield follow signs for B1053 heading towards Braintree. (Basically do not turn off, follow road through Finchingfield)
10. After approx 1. 5 miles look out for signpost for MDP Wethersfield.
You must handover to the guardroom on arrival the booking in form which should have accompanyed the original paperwork for GIC allocations. Please also ensure that you completed the form detailing the cadets you are traveling with. Failure to present this form will require all personal book in to the guard room.
